Vietnam Welcomes the First Shipment of Czech Pork

From the initial ambition of Czech meat producers to enter the Vietnamese market to the ceremonial receipt of the first container at Hai Phong Port, twelve years of intensive negotiations and discussions have passed. The long journey to open the Vietnamese market to Czech pork has now borne fruit.

On 21 July 2026, the first shipment of pork from the production facility of Kostelecké uzeniny, a.s. arrived at the Tan Vu Terminal in Hai Phong Port. The transaction was carried out by Animalco a.s., a leading Czech company specializing in the trade of meat and agricultural commodities, in cooperation with its Vietnamese partner, Ha Long Food Import Export Co. Ltd.

The ceremonial reception of the shipment at the port was organized by representatives of the Agrofert Group's representative office in Vietnam, based in Hanoi. The event was attended by representatives of the Hai Phong People's Committee, the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE), and the Department of Foreign Market Development of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, as well as Vietnamese business partners.

The arrival of the first container of Czech pork is the result of a long and demanding process aimed at opening the Vietnamese market to Czech food products. Its success stems from years of technical negotiations, regulatory approvals, and close cooperation between Czech and Vietnamese institutions. A key role was played by the State Veterinary Administration of the Czech Republic, the Czech Meat Processors Association, and Vietnam's Department of Animal Health and Livestock Production, which completed the approval process for veterinary import requirements for Czech pork in 2025. As a result, approved and registered Czech companies are now able to export their products to one of Southeast Asia's most promising markets.

Shipments of Czech pork, with clearly traceable origins and rigorous quality control, provide a solid foundation for further development of Czech-Vietnamese cooperation in agriculture and the food industry. Vietnam has long maintained very strict requirements regarding food safety and the quality of imported products. The Czech Republic, meanwhile, remains the only country in the world to have successfully eradicated African swine fever, providing a significant guarantee of animal health, food safety, and the high standards of Czech pork production.

The arrival of the first container from Kostelecké uzeniny in Vietnam marks a significant milestone in the trade and regulatory relationship between the Czech Republic and Vietnam. It opens the door to further growth in bilateral trade and creates new opportunities for cooperation between businesses operating in the highly regulated sectors of agriculture and food production.
