Renewed 13th Assembly of States parties to the Rome Statute elected 18th judge of the ICC and approved a raise in the Permanent Premises Budget

On June 24th and 25th, renewed 13th Session of the ASP was held in The Hague.

On June 23rd, 2015, the Bureau of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute (of which the Czech Republic is a member) appointed Mr. Ian Fuller, unanimously recommended by a specialized panel, as the first head of the Independent Oversight Mechanism. Thus, this important institution within the ICC system can be finally put into operation by the end of 2015.

On June 24th and 25th, renewed 13th Session of the ASP was held in The Hague.  It not only elected the remaining 18th judge (for Asia/Pacific group), Mr. Raul Pangalangan/Phillipines (supported, among others, by the Czech Republic), but also approved an operative EUR 6 million raise in the budget of the project of building the Permanent Premises of the ICC (that is to be put into operation in December 2015, the financial amount in question will be taken from operative funds of the ICC, therefore there will be no additional payments by the Signatory States to the Rome Statute). This solution was initially prepared under extreme time pressure in an open-ended working group presided by Ms. Jana Reinišová, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in The Hague on June 25th, and consequently adopted by the plenary session of the ASP.
