For the first time in the Netherlands, the Kunsthal Rotterdam will present a huge collective exhibition by the Czech artist Krištof Kintera. From February 28th till June 7th 2015 Kintera displays his absurdist and provocative work on 1200 square meters. The visitors of the exhibition can enjoy meeting the life-like and communicative pieces, such as a raven that complains about the taxes, or a potato-made married couple. The exhibition includes a rich program for families and schools.
Krištof Kintera (1973) lives and works in Prague. In the years 1992-1999 Kintera studied at Academy of Arts (AVU) under Milan Knížák and in academic year 2003-2004 he studied at Rijksakademie van Beeldende in Amsterdam. In the Netherlands his work can be seen in Tilburg, where Miracle is situated, the street lamp which casts a strange light on the statue of Francis of Assisi. Kintera’s work is often playful and humorous, but it has also its dark side. Many of his pieces contain confronting and society-criticizing sound inside: for example a monument for those, who jumped from the infamous Nusle bridge in Prague called Of one’s own volition-memento mori (2011).
