Mr. Lukáš Gjurič, the current Consul General of the Czech Republic in Erbil, joined the Czech foreign service in 2006. He has previously served at Czech embassies to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of Iraq, as well as at the Czech Permanent Representation to the EU. Before his arrival in Erbil in November 2025, he was for six years the Head of the Arab Levant and Gulf Unit within the MENA Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He holds a master’s degree in sociology and Arabic from the Charles University in Prague. He speaks Czech, English, Arabic and German.
