Visit to Greenland

On 30 May – 2 June 2017, the Czech Ambassador Jiří Brodský visited Greenland, an autonomous constituent country within the Kingdom of Denmark.

On the first day of the trip organized by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador together with other heads of diplomatic missions met with the Greenlandic Minister for Independence, Foreign Affairs and Agriculture Suka K. Frederiksen and other representatives of the Greenlandic government.

On the second day of the visit, the Ambassador met with the Greenlandic Deputy Minister for Industry, Labor, Trade and Energy, Jørn Skov Nielsen, and the CEOs of the company Royal Greenland, tourist agency Visit Greenland and the clothing company Great Greenland. In Nuuk, he discussed planned business tenders, consular agenda, as well as cultural events with the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic for Greenland Hans Kristian Olsen. He then visited Ilulissat, the third largest town in Greenland, where the Heads of Missions met with representatives of local government and acquainted themselves with the most visited tourist spots.

At the end of the trip, the Ambassadors visited Ilimanaq and attended a dinner organized by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For the Czech Ambassador this was a farewell visit to Greenland before the end of his four-year mandate.
