The conference was organized by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Ministry of Healthcare and Prevention, The Association of Danish Travel Agencies and the Union of Danish High School Students. The Minister of Healthcare and the ambassadors of both countries also took part in the conference.

This year’s winter holiday in Denmark takes place from 10 until 23 February and Prague is likely to be visited by approximately 10-12000 Danish high school students. The Czech Ambassador gave two interviews on this topic for Czech television and six interviews for the Danish media (the references for some of them are attached below). He expressed appreciation for the fact that there is a domestic reflection on this issue in Denmark and that both Denmark and the Czech Republic aim at preventing these events from happening this year. To the Danish TV, the Ambassador said: „It is in our interest that the Czech Republic remains an attractive and safe destination for tourists from abroad, including Danes who should have no negative experiences and therefore would like to come back.“ Besides the responsibility carried by the irreplaceable role of parents, schools and, above all, the responsibility every individual has for him/herself, he pointed out that the problem lies in the advertisement spots of some of the Danish travel agencies who falsely present Prague as “paradise for alcohol lovers” while they are aiming at young people below 18 to whom it is illegal to sell and serve alcoholic beverages in the Czech Republic.
