Two Czech benches in newly opened park Superkilen in Copenhagen

The new untraditional public park Superkilen was opened 22 June 2012 in multicultural Copenhagen quarter Nørrebro. The concept of the park was inspired by the different cultures of 57 countries whose citizens live in this quarter of the Danish metropolis.

Besides classical sport facilities, swings and climbing frames for children, you’ll find designed manhole covers, litter bins and other objects representing each of the 57 countries. The idea behind the multicultural park comes from the prominent Danish architecture studio BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) which cooperated with Copenhagen municipality. The park is divided into three characterictic areas: the Green Park, the Red Square and the Mimers Square (the Black Zone).

In the green area there have been placed two yellow-orange benches known from the animated movie Little Mole and the Lollipop (1970) which Metropolitan District Prague 6 devoted to the park SUPERKILEN.
