St. Václav’s day and screening of the film "Saturnin"

On 25th September 2007 the Embassy of the Czech Republic arranged a social gathering for St. Václav’s day.
On 25 th September 2007 the Embassy of the Czech Republic arranged a social gathering for St. Václav's day, the day of Czech Statehood, to mark the day's importance. Czech compatriots, members of the Czech-Danish Society, representatives of Czech Airlines and Czech students took part in the meeting. After a short welcome the Ambassador thanked the members of the Czech-Danish Society for good cooperation with the Embassy and talked about the coming cultural and social events arranged and co-arranged by the Embassy.
The Ambassador also introduced the project Fokus Tjekkiet - The Czech Republic in Focus - which will take place in February and March 2008. The programme of the project includes a retrospective screening of Jiří Menzel's films, the exhibition: Czech Press Photo 2006, an exhibition of Czech vintage cars, a seminar on Czech bier, a presentation of lace and lace making, an exhibition on the occasion of the premiere of opera Rusalka at The Danish Royal Theatre, two concerts with Martinů Ensemble and other events.
The reaction of the members of the Danish-Czech Society and other guests was positive. The guests also expressed great appreciation over the traditional film screenings at the Embassy.
After refreshments a screening of the film Saturnin by instructor Jiří Věrčák from 1994 followed. The film, based on a novel by Zdeněk Jirotka, found new followers due to it's excellent acting performances.
