On Wednesday 16 September 2020 at 5 pm, a concert by Prague piano quartet Ensemble Martinů will take place in Christians Kirke in Copenhagen.

The concert marks this year’s 850th anniversary since the birth of king Valdemar II. of Denmark. He married a Czech princess Markéta, who adopted the name Dagmar after the wedding.

The Ensemble Martinů was founded in 1978. The repertoire contains about 90 compositions. Along with the traditional repertoire from the 18th to the 20th century, the group has concentrated especially on the music of Bohuslav Martinů and on works by contemporary Czech composers. The Ensemble has performed on most major stages in the Czech Republic as well as international music festivals and performs often abroad.

The quartet consists of:

Miroslav Matějka – flute, artistic leader

Radka Preislerová – violin

Bledar Zajmi – violoncello

Veronika Böhmová – piano
