The Embassy of The Czech Republic in Copenhagen and vKodani.cz cordially invite you the the final screening before the cinema renovation, which will take place June 2, 2026 from 7:00 PM. in Husets Biograf, Rådshusstræde 13, Copenhagen K.
We are thus planning our final film evening of 2026. For the June screening, we have selected the film Dark Blue World (2001), directed by Jan Svěrák and based on a screenplay by this year’s ninety-year-old jubilarian, Zdeněk Svěrák. The film presents an intimate human drama set against a gripping historical backdrop. It tells a story of courage, heroism, and the ingratitude of history, as well as a story of great love, friendship, and male honor.

Synopsis:
”Dark Blue World,” directed by Jan Sverák, 2001, 112 minutes / Young Czech director Jan Sverak’s distinctive gift, shown in “Kolya,” for juggling Bohemian charm with deep-rooted emotion succeeds on the much larger stage of this film. thanks to another well-textured script by his father, Zdenek Sverak, and excellent performances. An intimate drama of two Czech pilots in Britain’s Royal Air Force who fall for the same woman during WWII, pic is full of engaging characters and big-heartedness beneath the aerial dogfights and more serious messages.
