The most important recourses for genealogical research are vital statistics registers of births, marriage and deaths that are deposited in local archives. Petitioner for genealogical research can address the local archives directly, or if he or she is unaware which archive to contact, he or she can send his/her request to the Archiving Administration and Filing Service Department of the Ministry of Interior and they will proceed the request to the relevant archives. In order to file a request to search the register, you will need to know a name of the searched person, a date of birth/death and its location. If you have any related family documents, make sure you attach a copy of these documents as well. Despite all the efforts of the archivist that are often working with mangled names, the result of your search might be negative. Some of the registers have been digitalized and are accessible online.
Research in the archives is subject to a charge based on the public notice issued by the government.
