The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bern is delighted to inform you that from August 19 to 24th 2025, the Orchestre des Jeunes de Fribourg (OJF) will be touring the Czech Republic for three concerts. On this occasion the 21 young musicians will play with a Czech professional flutist living in Fribourg, Mrs Jarmila Janecek and promising pianist Anna Kapsopoulos.
The Orchestre des Jeunes de Fribourg (OJF), founded in 1971 by its current director Theophanis Kapsopoulos, is a string orchestra of young people aged 12 to 18 who commit themselves over a period of four years to offer one concert per month (October to May) to the population of Fribourg in Switzerland. With a loyal audience of about 400 people per performance, its mission is to offer its young members the opportunity to train with renowned teachers and performers. The Orchestra is thus joined by a professional soloist, often of international renown, at each concert. Over its 53 years of existence, more than 400 young people have played in the OJF and about fifty of them have become professional musicians. Some regularly return to perform as soloists with the young people. Thus, in addition to the musical adventure, there is the human adventure of transmission between generations.
