With the participation of the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Lebanon H. E. Ester Lauferová, a tied financial donation was handed over to the Machgharah Governmental Hospital in the Bekaa on November 11, 2025. The hospital received equipment for its neonatal intensive care unit from Czech manufacturers. The project was led by the Czech company TSE, s.r.o. It was financed from the Reconstruction Program of the Government of the Czech Republic in the Middle East region.
As part of the donation, the hospital was supplied with infant incubators, transport incubator, phototherapy lamps, gynecological chair, infant radiant warmers, birthing bed and neonatal monitors worth a total of CZK 5 million. The Czech Republic has been building its name in the healthcare sector in Lebanon for several years, especially in the areas of ophthalmology, gynecology and neonatology.
Czech support for the Lebanese healthcare system began with cooperation with Rafik Hariri University Hospital in Beirut in 2018 as part of MEDEVAC missions. In 2021, this hospital received equipment for its maternity and neonatal departments. Thanks to the government's Reconstruction Program for the Middle East Region, Czech assistance has expanded beyond Beirut to other regions in the following years. The Czech Republic has already supported neonatal departments in Beirut's Karantina and Baabda governmental hospitals and in governmental hospitals in Baalbek, Tripoli, Sir Dennieh and Zahle, which are referral hospitals for the care of premature babies in their areas. The Czech company Royax, s.r.o. also delivered a special ambulance to the Baalbek hospital for the transport of newborns and premature babies, which serves the entire Baalbek - Hermel region.
The Embassy in Beirut considers the healthcare sector for Lebanon a priority within the framework of tied financial donations and intends to continue supporting healthcare projects in the coming years.
