Czechs and America at 250 (PDF, 128 KB)

The photos may depict the contributions of famous Czechs in America, such as cartographer Augustine Herman, composers Antonín Dvořák and Bohuslav Martinů, Mayor Anton Cermak, director Miloš Forman, and US Secretary of State Madeleine Korbelová Albright. They may highlight the accomplishments of many Czech athletes on US soil. Foremost, the photos are welcome to feature the many contributions of ordinary Czech-Americans and their vast footprints in the great states of Texas, Nebraska, Iowa, Florida, and more!

The photos may depict sights such as statues, street signs, buildings, and museums. In the alternative, the photos may incorporate the heritage of the Czech culture vibrant in America today through culture, including food and drink, language, music, and fashion. The photos may depict people and Czech-American organizations as well as inventions and products, such as cars, motorcycles, robots, and so on.

The Czech Embassy will collect the photographs and select the best to highlight online in honor of America at 250.

The Best Photos
The Embassy of the Czech Republic reserves the right to judge, select, print, publish and post the submitted photos, which it deems best within its discretion. The Embassy will display said best photos on its social media outlets such Facebook and Instagram as well as its website at www.mzv.gov.cz/washington as an online gallery.

Photo credit will be duly accredited to each and every photo whenever it is published or displayed.

SUBMISSION OF MATERIALS

●  The photograph must be sent to the email address at czechembassypr@gmail.com. Deadline is no later than April 30, 2026. Up to three photographs, preferably taken in the last ten years, may be submitted per participant.  

● Please put “Photo Competition Czechs and America at 250” in the subject line of your email. Please include your first and last name and contact information.

● Please include a one sentence description of where the photo was taken in the United States and why the photo depicts how Czechs have contributed to America at 250.

●  Please submit digital, high resolution photos, preferably in JPG format. For smart phone photos, please submit at the highest quality possible.

TERMS OF SUBMISSION

•  All photographs and other content or information submitted to the Embassy of the Czech Republic shall become the property of the Embassy of the Czech Republic, and the Embassy shall have no obligation to preserve, return, or otherwise make available any photographs and/or information so submitted.

• The individual understands that because the Embassy of the Czech Republic becomes the owner of all submitted photographs, the Embassy of the Czech Republic and its diplomats, employees, successors, and assigns may use, reproduce, edit, display, transmit, modify, publish, and otherwise make use of the submitted photographs and descriptions in any and all print, internet, media, and media social outlets, without compensation to the individual of any kind.

• By submitting any photograph, text, or other content or information to the Czech Embassy, the individual hereby represents and warrants that the submitted photograph(s) and description(s) do not infringe on any copyright or trademark, any rights of privacy or publicity of any person, or any other right of any third party. The individual hereby represents and warrants that he or she has the right to transfer the photograph(s) and description(s) to the Embassy of the Czech Republic free and clear of any claims or encumbrances.

• The individual hereby agrees to hold the Embassy of the Czech Republic and its diplomats, employees, successors, and assigns harmless from and against—and hereby waive any right to pursue—any claims of any nature arising in connection with the Czech Embassy’s use of the submitted photograph(s) and description(s).
