
Commemorating Czech National Day

A wreath laying ceremony took place at the T.G. Masaryk Memorial in Washington, DC, on the morning of October 27, 2016.
A patriotic crowd gathered to hear commemorative speeches by Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United States Petr Gandalovič, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Slovakia Peter Zeleňák, Ambassador and Head of the European Union Delegation to the United States David O´Sullivan, and past President of the American Friends of the Czech Republic Phillip Kasik. Stanislav Kotyza performed the Czech and US national anthems as well as “Ach synku, synku,” the beloved song of the founding father of the Czech people’s independent state, President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk.
