Ambassador Kmoníček on Texas tour

Ambassador Hynek Kmoníček and his wife Indira Gumarová visited several Czech-American vibrant communities proud of their heritage on June 15-17, 2017. Brian Vanicek, Czech Honorary Consul in Texas, prepared a rich program full of interesting meetings including with astronaut Drew Feustel.
Ambassador Kmoníček 's visit to Texas included welcome receptions at the Sokol Athletic Center in Dallas, West Sokol in West, West History Museum in West, Czech Heritage Museum in Temple, Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center in La Grange and the Czech Center Museum in Houston. Private meetings with business leaders, academic officials and military personnel were also held in Dallas and in Austin.
Sokol WEST, Ambassador Kmonicek and Indira received a rousing early-morning welcome and gymnastics exhibition presented by these young gymnasts.

The final event — a welcome reception for the Ambassador and his wife — at the Czech Center Museum in Houston on June 17, marked the grand opening of the Czech Honorary Consulate in Houston located within the Czech Center Museum Houston at 4920 San Jacinto. With its 92 consulates, the Consular Corps of Houston is the third-largest consular corps in the US.

“We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to host the Ambassador and his wife,” says Honorary Consul and SPJST President Brian Vanicek. Consul Vanicek and his wife, Joan, accompanied Ambassador Kmoníček and his wife, Indira, throughout their visit to Texas. “The state of Texas represents an important cultural and economic gateway between the United States of America and the Czech Republic where visitors from the Czech Republic are always welcome,” says Consul Vanicek.
