AFI EU Film Showcase: The Painted Bird

The Edlvitch DCJCC will screen Václav Marhoul's harrowing film "The Painted Bird" (Nabarvené ptáče) on December 18, at 7 pm, in connection to the AFI EU Film Showcase. Based on the celebrated novel by Jerzy Kosinsky, this staggering work of beauty follows the brutal hardships of a young, Jewish boy as he wanders the countryside during World War II in search of some respite from the atrocities of daily life. Featuring standout performances from Stellan Skarsgard and Harvey Keitel, this harrowing film overflows with incredible imagery shot in vivid black and white. (2019 Oscar Selection, Czech Republic)
