Screening Canceled - The Avalon Theatre, in collaboration with the Czech Embassy, presents the film Occupation (Okupace), a dark comedy starring Antonie Forman, granddaughter of the late Oscar-winning director Miloš Forman. Occupation (Okupace)

Directed by Michal Nohejl, 2021, 95 min., Czech with English subtitles

Following a theatrical premiere, actors gather to share a couple drinks, but an uninvited guest crashes the party. A drunk Russian officer comes to sell a canister of gas, but the business transaction turns into a vodka drinking race. The Russian, besotted by the beautiful Milada and entertained by the comedic cowardice of the men present, won't leave. The Russian, having a grand old time, pulls out a gun. The party, beating to the rhythm of the cosmically psychedelic music by Kill the Dandies!, spins out of control and the participants can’t keep up. The game becomes a trap. Heroes become cowards, and cowards become heroes. There is only one way out of the occupied bar: a revolution! After this night, no one will come out the same. (Cinemax)

The dark comedy stars the late Oscar-winning director Miloš Forman's granddaughter Antonie Formanová, who won the top acting awards for her role in the film.

5 Czech Critics' Choice Awards including Best Picture and 3 Czech Lion Awards (Czech Oscars - Best Supporting Actress - Antonie Formanová, Best Screenplay, and Best Music)

The film is also a part of Czech That Film, bringing the best of contemporary film to select cities throughout the United States.
