The variety of study possibilities is perfectly balanced and broad enough to satisfy even the most ambitious endeavours.All the universities offer accredited study programmes in their respective fields. These include the humanities, hard sciences, agriculture, architecture, engineering, medicine, economics, various art programmes involving cinema, music, dance, design, graphics, media and many others. Ultimately the choice is yours.

The typical Czech academic year starts in the last week of September or the first of October and each semester takes 13 weeks of study. The winter semester ends in December or January and is followed by a 7-week exam period, which ends in mid-February. The same length applies to the spring semester, which lasts until the third week of May, followed by another exam period of 7 weeks. If you are perceptive enough, you know what that means: No midterms. The finals at the end of each semester can be done in written, oral, or combined format. All the universities utilize the ECTS credit system with 30 ECTS credits for semester. Altogether you’ll need 180 ECTS to complete a Bachelor’s programme and 120 ECTS for a Master’s programme.

But it’s all not only about studying! Even though Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic, compared to its siblings across Europe, it remains relatively small. It has less than one eighth of London’s population, half of Rome’s and approximately a third of Berlin’s. This allows the city to maintain its very specific character without being too vast to be properly comprehended. It is one of the greenest and most compact capitals you’ll ever see and a much more affordable alternative 

to the rest of them.

As the cultural and historical centre of the entire country, Prague will satisfy every need for educational or leisure activity you may desire. Even better, almost every university and their respective colleges are situated in the very core of the city, easily reachable from every direction by public transpoprt or even on a bicycle in less than half an hour. For all the students, Prague is a city of dreams. Hundreds of cinemas, art galleries, music halls, clubs, sport facilities and parks lay on top of each other. Boredom is never an issue. Choosing correctly how you want to spend your free time, now that is the real dilemma.
