The Czech / NATO Contact Point Embassy organized a High-level seminar on NATO Partnerships

At the upcoming NATO Summit, Allies will take steps to boost their defence and deterrence as well as to further project stability beyond NATO borders. How do NATO Partnerships fit into this endeavour? How do they adapt to new challenges and what is in it for Austria? Why is NATO-EU cooperation so important? Those were questions asked at the High-level seminar entitled: “NATO Partnerships on the Eve of Brussels Summit & Beyond” organized by the Czech Embassy in its capacity as NATO Contact Point Embassy on 21 June 2018.

About 80 participants gathered at the Czech Embassy to listen and debate with NATO Assistant Secretary General James Appathurai, Austrian Ministry of Defence Security Policy Director MG Johann Frank, Jordanian Ambassador Hussam Abdullah Hasan Ghodayeh al Husseini, Czech Ambassador to NATO Jiří Šedivý, Austrian Ministry of Defence Military Policy Director BG Reinhard Trischak and NATO Senior Policy Advisor Laurie Walker.

It has been stressed that NATO values Austria as reliable partner and net security contributor to European Security and to Western Balkans in particular. Austria, on the other hand, understands NATO as central to its security and perceives political dialogue, interoperability and participation in crisis management operations as key elements of its relationship to NATO.
