Das Ziel ist es, zu einer beidseitig vorteilhaften Entwicklung der Beziehung zwischen Österreich und der NATO beizutragen. Die Botschaft der Tschechischen Republik in Österreich wird, im Rahmen ihrer Tätigkeiten, Aktivitäten organisieren und unterstützen, die sich auf die Sicherheitsthemen konzentrieren, welches für die NATO und für Österreich relevant ist.

Österreich ist ein aktives Mitglied bei der Partnerschaft für den Frieden (PfP), im Euro-Atlantischen Partnerschaftsrat (EAPR) und trägt zur Sicherheit im euro-atlantischen Raum bei. Vor allem ist Österreich in der westlichen Balkanregion aktiv, wo es den größten Anteil an Nicht-NATO Truppen der KFOR stellt. Das österreichische Heer hat ein hohes Level an Interoperabilität mit der NATO.

The purpose of a NATO Contact Point Embassy is to contribute to the development of mutually beneficial relations and cooperation between NATO and its partner. To that end, the Czech Embassy in Austria will organize, facilitate or support security activities which are relevant to both, NATO and Austria.

Austria is an active participant in the Partnership for Peace Program and the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council as well as a security provider in the Euro-Atlantic area.  In particular, Austria is significantly contributing to NATO efforts to bring security and stability in the Western Balkans region, where it is the greatest non-NATO troop provider to the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR).  The Austrian armed forced have achieved a high level of interoperability with NATO forces.
