Ulaanbaatar – The exhibition Czech Nature Photo was ceremonially opened today on the fence of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Mongolia. This prestigious competition is dedicated to Czech photographers specialising in capturing nature, with the aim not only to showcase their work but also to inspire the public to protect the environment.
“I have just returned from the Gobi Desert, which fascinated me with its beauty, vastness and unique atmosphere. At the same time, I am increasingly aware that nature is disappearing – not only in Mongolia but also in the Czech Republic and across the world. It is every photographer’s duty to document nature as it truly is, so that it may be preserved at least in images for future generations. I hope that today’s exhibition will mark the beginning of cooperation between Czech and Mongolian photographers,” said Veronika Souralová, Director of Czech Photo.
The Ulaanbaatar exhibition presents a selection from the ninth edition of the competition, whose highlight was the April 2025 exhibition Where Nature Rules at Prague Castle. Among the featured authors are, for example, Igor Mikula, Rostislav Štefánek, Petr Bambousek, Vít Lukáš, Viktor Vrbovský, Martin Veselý, Jan Rozehnal, Patricie Robenková, and others. The project is part of the cultural programme of the Czech Embassy and was created in cooperation with the Czech Photo Centre – a modern gallery in Prague which, since 2016, has been hosting exhibitions, workshops, and two prestigious photography competitions: Czech Press Photo and Czech Nature Photo. The exhibition invites Mongolian audiences to discover the beauty, diversity, and fragility of nature – from Czech forests to Alpine landscapes – through the eyes of leading Czech photographers.
