On Monday, June 4, 2018, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ulaanbaatar, in cooperation with I-Cinema, reminded the world-renowned Czech director Miloš Forman, who passed away on April 13 this year.
Within the six-day Altan Khalis Film Festival featured Forman´s film Love of a Blonde from 1965, which has well received an international recognition and was nominated for the Oscar and the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2010, the British film magazine Empire ranked the movie among the 100 best foreign-language films.
Forman's life career and about the film was presented by Czech Ambassador to Mongolia, Jiří Brodsky. In his speech he highlighted Forman's films from the 1960s and 1970s, directed in the then Czechoslovakia, inspired by Italian neorealism and French cinema verité. Masterfully combining professional actors with non-actors, they were characterized by improvised dialogues and two cameras. The Ambassador also recalled that Forman had a lucky hand in choosing his closest associates and friends: cameraman Miroslav Ondříček, screenwriter and director Ivan Passer and Jaroslav Papoušek.
Mongolian and foreign audiences (the film was screened with both English and Mongolian subtitles) in the crowded ICinema hall appreciated the film with great applause.
