(This article expired 13.10.2018 / 18:00.)

Date: 13 October 2018 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Venue: I-Cinema, Ikh Delguur

On the other Czech film night, to be held on Saturday, October 13, at 4 pm, at i-Cinema in Ulaanbaatar, the Embassy prepared the film of Czech director and screenwriter Jan Švankmajer "Šílení" from 2005.

The film screenplay, which will be screened with Mongolian subtitles, is freely based on the motifs of two Edgar Allan Poe's Short Stories and a Mad Psychiatrist. One of the main characters is the Marquis, a character inspired by the Marquis de Sade. The story of the film is taking place at the beginning of the 19th century in France, but it is full of anachronisms and the realities of today because it is the allegory of the contemporary world. The film deals with topics such as absolute freedom, civilization repression, and manipulation.

The Czech Film and Television Academy Award in 2006 awarded the Czech Lion for Best Picture and Best Film Poster. Jan Tříska won the Slovak film award Slnko v siete for Marquis the same year.
