Šikulka Music School – Grand opening

(This article expired 30.09.2020 / 02:00.)

On 19 September 2015, the grand opening of brand new private non-professional music school established by esteemed Czech alumni and professional pianist Mrs. Ts. Tsolmon took place, aiming to give music education to children and teenagers in their free time.

The Counsellor and Consul of the Embassy of the Czech Republic was present during the opening ceremony, added by the concert in performance of children playing on various musical instruments. In this school, classes on piano, violin, horse headed fiddle, ballet and singing are to be taught. In the educational system so far, Mongolia has music or art schools for future professionals, but the network of music education for public – like the system in the Czech Republic – is still missing. Tsolmon’s school is therefore bringing in a new model.

The name ‘Šikulka’ derives from the Czech word "šikovný", which means ‘skillful, handy, smart and cute’ and that’s why we hope to witness and embrace more cheerful and skillful young Mongolian musicians in the future.

Together with her students, Madam Tsolmon is going to stage big performance for the upcoming Czech Independence Day on 28 October 2015. Furthermore, she will train her students for the Smetana International Piano Competition, which is scheduled on 13-20 March 2016 in Pilsen city of the Czech Republic, of which huge poster was hanging in the wall of the music school to give inspiration and will to the children.
