On 04.11.2016, an opening ceremony of “Kindergarten Park of Charles IV” took place as final part of one of this year local small scale project funded by the Government of the Czech Republic.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Czech Embassy, management of Kindergarten No.16, parents and their kids, but also by several members of Mongolian Parliament, representatives of Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports and Ulaanbaatar Municipality, former Mongolian Ambassador to the Czech Republic, the President of Association of Graduates of Czech and Slovak Universities and media.
State Kindergarten No. 16 opened its refurnished playground named after European King and Emperor “Charles IV” in the year of 700th Anniversary of birth of this ruler of Czech-Luxembourgian origin. The park was newly established and equipped with functional models of real-life historical monuments of Czech architecture, namely Karlstein Castle, Orloi Astronomic Clock, Charles Bridge and other toys, especially designed for this project. This example of park may inspire others in Ulaanbaatar to create playgrounds for play, education, as well as, enjoying surrounding trees and gardens.
We are happy that a small part of historical and beautiful Prague has risen in the heart of metropolitan Ulaanbaatar, which will give some adults the nostalgic moments from their student years in the Czech Republic. Symbolically, the park is located right opposite to the First Central Hospital – one of the first important institutions built by of people Czechoslovakia back in socialist time. Both are evidence of the long-lasting friendly relations between the Czech Republic and Mongolia.
