A project implemented at the Mongolian strategically important thermal power plant came to end.
The project results handover ceremony took place on 08 September 2017 at the TPP#3. The event was attended by the Mr. Ts. Bayarbaatar, Advisor to the Minister of Energy of Mongolia, Mr. Oldrich Zajicek, Deputy Head of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Mongolia, Mr. Vaclav Lengheinrich, Director of Bohemia Muller s.r.o., Mr. G. Damdinsuren, CEO of TPP#3, Mr. Ya. Tumurkhuyag, General Engineer of TPP#3 and other people.
Under the project, extensive works conducted on the conveyor belts, including the installation of remote conveyor controls and a surveillance system. Furthermore, the belts were fitted with additional technical features (pull-chord switches, alignment sensors, emergency breaks etc.). Drives of two of the plant’ coal shredders were equipped with temperature and vibration sensors, as well as a surveillance system, and the plant’s carriage unloading systems were automated in last two years of the project. Last not least, construction and set up of a new control room was carried out to host the new command interface and control all future coal handling operations, at both low- and high pressure of parts of the coal handling workshop.
Thanks to the project, safety of the overall operation and at workplace improved significantly at the coal handling workshop. Moreover, the project helped to minimize the manual operations and potential accidents, as well as, improved the fast response in any case from the control room, which leads to the reliable and continual electricity supply to Ulaanbaatar – the home to half of Mongolian population and most of the entities. Resulting automation and precise measurement of the input coals is contributing to overall reduction of the green-house gas emission whereas environment is likely to benefit. Consequently, TPP#3 is now well-prepared for the Mongolian harsh winters for upcoming years.
It shouldn’t be overlooked that it was the one of the most successful and noteworthy bilateral development cooperation projects between Mongolia and Czech Republic. The project was implemented in 2014-2017, with CZK31,230,773 aid from the Government of the Czech Republic provided via its Czech Development Agency. Implementer Bohemia Muller s.r.o. is well experienced company with previous experience of conducting same modernization at the Ulaanbaatar Thermal Power Plant No.4 and others in Mongolia.
