Koncert v Torontu

Koncert v Torontu

Violinist Olga Arribas Quintana, born Šroubková (Prague 1993), is one of the most interesting artists of her generation. Olga has been playing the violin since she was four years old, following the musical tradition of her parents and her famous paternal grandfather (all of them violinists) and her grandmother, a great Czech soprano. After studies with Polish violinist Adam Kostecki, Olga graduated at the University of Music, Performing Arts and Media in Hannover in 2021. She won first prizes in internationally prestigious competitions, including the “Rodolfo Lipizer Prize” (Italy, 2016) and   “Prague Spring Festival” (Czech Republic, 2017), as well as second prize of Shanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competition (China, 2018) including the award for the best interpretation of a contemporary Chinese Concerto, the only competitor to play it by heart. She has served as a concertmaster with several major European orchestras, including the Czech Philharmonic, the Antwerp Philharmonic and others.  After her marriage in Spain she moved to Mexico City where she regularly cooperates with Filarmónica de las Artes as an invited concertmaster. In 2024 she made her debuts as a soloist with Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México and Orquesta Filarmónica de la Ciudad de México.

The piano virtuoso Miroslav Sekera ranks among the preeminent members of the young generation of Czech pianists. Miroslav was a child prodigy; since the tender age of 3, he played both piano and violin and soon he began to reap praise not only in concert appearances, but also in numerous junior competitions, both as a pianist and a violinist, as well as a chamber player. His unforgettable childhood experience comes from participating in the production of the Miloš Forman film Amadeus, where he impersonated Mozart in his early years. After finishing the Prague Conservatory, he graduated from the Prague Music Academy AMU in 1999 as the best solo piano graduate. Among other awards, he won the second prize from the international competition at Gaillard, France (2000), and first prize from the Johannes Brahms International Competition at Portschach, Austria (2002). He is in high demand as a recitalist, orchestra soloist and chamber music player all over the world. He recorded several CD’s including three for a contemporary Boston composer Joseph Summer.
