Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Martin Tlapa visited Japan

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Mr. Martin Tlapa, visited Japan between 4th June and 8th June 2018. He was accompanied by a sixteen-member business delegation composed of representatives of Czech companies, representing mainly the high-tech sectors of biotechnology, nanotechnology, IT, energy, R&D and defence industry. The business delegation was organized by the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic and headed by its Vice-President Mr. Bořivoj Minář. Mission participants met with representatives of Japanese export institutions and associations, research institutes, technology parks, and leading Japanese technology companies. The highlight of the program was the 2nd Czech-Japanese Business and Investment Forum.
The business trip took place on the occasion of the organization of the 2nd Czech-Japanese Business and Investment Forum held at the JETRO Headquarters in Tokyo and was one of the key events of the Year of the Czech Business in Japan 2018. During his program, Deputy Minister Tlapa also held meetings at three Japanese ministries - the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of the Environment (MoE).
Besides representatives of the Czech Chamber of Commerce, representatives of following Czech companies and institutions participated at the business mission: CEITEC, Research Center Řež, ČSOB, Elematec, Faculty of Informatics Brno, NAFIGATE Corporation, PKMK law & finance, SVCS Process Innovation, VTK Special and T & T - trade Holding. Part of the program was also attended by the newly appointed CEO of CzechInvest Ms. Silvana Jirotková.
Busy program of this business trip included meetings with representatives of leading Japanese export institutions and associations (JETRO, Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, KEIDANREN), research institutes (AIST, NIMS), two technology parks (KSP, LIC) and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Technology Agency. The program also included visits of leading Japanese technology companies (Konica Minolta, Rigaku Technologies, NEC), traditional networking event at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo and the above mentioned 2nd Czech-Japanese Business and Investment Forum which was attended by more than 130 participants.
