At the turn of May and June 2026, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo organized a professional seminar and hands-on workshop dedicated to premium Czech spirits for Japanese bartenders. The event attracted representatives of some of Tokyo’s leading bars, as well as owners of renowned specialty liquor shops, all eager to learn more about the tradition and contemporary production of Czech distilled beverages.

The first part of the programme featured a presentation on the history of Czech distilling, its long-standing traditions, and the distinctive characteristics of various types of Czech spirits. Participants gained a comprehensive overview of Czech distilled products and their position on both domestic and international markets.

The second part of the event consisted of an interactive workshop showcasing the potential of Czech spirits in modern mixology. Participants had the opportunity to experiment with different combinations and taste cocktails prepared using selected Czech spirits. Practical demonstrations illustrated that Czech distillates can serve not only as excellent standalone products but also as a versatile base for original cocktails reflecting contemporary trends.

Japan has long been recognized as one of the world’s most sophisticated cocktail markets. While overall alcohol consumption in the country has been declining, the cocktail segment continues to grow and attract increasing consumer interest. This development creates promising opportunities for premium Czech spirits, which have the potential to appeal to discerning Japanese customers seeking new flavours, authenticity, and high quality.

The seminar confirmed the growing interest of industry professionals in Czech spirits and contributed to raising awareness of Czech producers in the promising Japanese market.
