Czech food products caught attention at the international trade fair FOODEX JAPAN 2024

The 49th International Food and Beverage Exhibition FOODEX JAPAN 2024 took place at the Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Centre on 5-8 March 2024. Martin Klučar, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan, took part in the opening ceremony. After a ribbon cutting, he visited the Czech pavilion and wished our exhibitors a lot of success in the Japanese market.

FOODEX JAPAN is the largest food and beverage fair in Asia and attracts professional visitors not only from Japan, but also from neighbouring countries such as South Korea, Taiwan or Hong Kong. Nearly three thousand exhibitors from sixty-eight countries attended this year´s fair. Within this great competition, eight companies and their products, including wine, fruit spirits, cereals, muesli, gluten-free and protein food or chocolate represented the Czech Republic.

Throughout the event, representatives of domestic importers as well as regional were visiting the Czech booth abundantly.  Simultaneously, several pre-arranged business meetings were also held at the pavilion. Furthermore, we welcomed a delegation from the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture as well as representatives of the existing major import partners at the venue. Our exhibitors praised the interest shown by the professional visitors and highlighted in particular the seriousness of newly acquired contacts.

Czech products were, likewise, within a separate EU pavilion. Here, visitors could also attend one of various cooking shows focused on combining European and Japanese ingredients. The fusion of domestic and foreign flavours, such as seafood with imported wines, was one of the themes of this year's fair. We believe that Czech products will be able to compete at the prestigious international exhibition again next year.
