Screening of the Opening concert of the Prague Spring music festival

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo, in cooperation with the Czech Centre Tokyo, held a special evening dedicated to the Prague Spring music festival. This year, the Opening concert of the Prague Spring International Music Festival was unconventionally presented as a film screening.
The program featured a screening of the opening concert – Smetana’s Má vlast – along with two documentaries, one dedicated to the legacy of conductor Rafael Kubelík and the other to the history of the festival. The opening concert was performed by the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the conductor of Petr Popelka.
This year, the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra celebrates its 100th anniversary. The event also highlighted the 80th anniversary of the Prague Spring festival and confirmed the Japanese audience´s continued interest in Czech classical music.
