On February 24, 2025, the Osaka Marathon 2025 took place, at which the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan presented the best Japanese marathon runner with a Czech glass cup.
The Osaka Marathon, which merged with the historic Lake Biwa Marathon in 2022, is a prestigious marathon with a tradition dating back to 1946. It is a major road running event, attended annually by male and female runners, including a number of elite athletes, and covers the classic marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers. The route leads through the lively streets of Osaka and culminates in the finale at the Osaka Castle grounds. The three foreign partners of the Osaka Marathon include the renowned Prague Marathon - the presentation of the Ambassador's Cup made of Czech glass is another gesture reflecting the friendly ties between Czechia and Japan.
At this year's ceremony of the 13th Osaka Marathon, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan, Mr. Martin Klučar, presented the Ambassador's Cup made of Czech crystal to the best Japanese runner of the race, Mr. Ryota KONDO, who finished second. This was the third time in a row that the Ambassador's Cup was presented at this marathon race.
