Ambassador handed over the Czech Cup to the winner of November Grand Sumo Tournament and met with the Japan-Czech Friendship Society in Fukuoka

On 26 November 2023, the finals of the Grand Sumo Tournament took place in the Fukuoka Kokusai Center, whose winner became the sumo wrestler Kirishima. The winner was awarded by a diploma and a Czech crystal cup by Martin Klučar, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan. Business trip of Ambassador continued by meeting with members of the Japan-Czech Friendship Society in Fukuoka.
 

According to a long tradition established in 1970, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Japan presents the winner of the Grand Sumo Tournament with a diploma and a hand-cut cup made of Czech crystal. During the closing ceremony, the winner was awarded by a diploma and a Czech crystal hand-cut cup by Martin Klučar, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan. Sumo wrestler Kirishima by beating ozeki Takakeisho secured his second championship after his victory in March Grand Sumo Tournament in Osaka.

The program of the business trip of Ambassador Martin Klučar and his wife continued in Fukuoka by a meeting with the management and members of the Japan-Czech Friendship Society in Fukuoka. They presented their projects and plans for the next year. The ambassador praised the 61-year history of the Society and underlined the importance of its activity in the field of intercultural exchange between the two countries and ties on a personal level.
