Handover of the Czech Cup to the winner of the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament in Osaka

On 22 March 2026, the finals of the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament took place at EDION Arena Osaka, whose winner was the sumo wrestler sekiwake Kirishima. During the closing ceremony, the winner was awarded by a diploma and a Czech crystal hand-cut cup made by Moser Glassworks.

According to a long tradition established in 1970, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan presents the winner of the Grand Sumo Tournament with a diploma and a hand-cut cup made of Czech crystal.

At the final ceremony of the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament, on behalf of H. E. Mr. Martin Klučar, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan, it was Mr. Kazumasa Kuzumura, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Sakai, who handed over the diploma and the Czech cup made by Moser Glassworks to the winning wrestler sekiwake Kirishima.

29-year-old wrestler sekiwake Kirishima thus on 22 March 2026 won his third career Emperor's Cup. Congratulations!
