Handover of the Czech Cup to the winner of the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament

On 24 March 2024, the finals of the Grand Sumo Tournament took place in Osaka, whose winner was the sumo wrestler Takerufuji. During the closing ceremony, the winner was awarded by a diploma and a Czech crystal hand-cut cup by the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic.
According to a long tradition established in 1970, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan presents the winner of the Grand Sumo Tournament with a diploma and a hand-cut cup made of Czech crystal.
This time, Ambassador Martin Klučar was represented at the ceremonial event by the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Sakai, Mr. Kazumasa Kuzumura, who presented the diploma and the Czech crystal hand-cut cup to the wrestler Takerufuji, the first wrestler in 110 years to win a sumo tournament in his debut.
