
Czech Philharmonic performed Smetana´s My Homeland in Suntory Hall in Tokyo

On October 28, the date of the National Day of the Czech Republic, the Czech Philharmonic orchestra conducted by Maestro Semyon Bychkov performed the cycle My Homeland, the famous opus of Bedřich Smetana, in the premises of the prestigious Suntory Hall in Tokyo. The concert provided a good opportunity for starting the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Czech Republic and Japan.
Czech Philharmonic, an internationally renowned Czech symphonic orchestra, currently on its Japan Tour, presented to the Tokyo audience one of the most famous opuses of the Czech composer Bedřich Smetana, the cycle of six symphonic poems My Homeland, portraying the beauty and history of the Czech country.
The concert took place symbolically on the date of the Czech National Day and provided a good opportunity for starting the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. The celebrations of the anniversary will be held throughout the year 2020. The concert, which turned out to be a tremendous success, was attended by Mr. Milan Slanec, Deputy Head of Mission of the Czech Republic, and Mrs. Monika Dobiášová, Consul of the Embassy.
