Ambassador Tomáš Dub took part in the Peace Ceremony in Hiroshima (6th August) and Nagasaki (9th August).
This year, we commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Representatives of more than 80 countries gathered at the Peace Ceremonial in Hiroshima where the Mayor of the City, Mr. Kazumi Matsui, pronounced the Peace Declaration.
Following the ceremonial commemorative act, Ambassador Dub met Mr. Akitoshi Nakamura, Director of the Museum of the Atomic Bomb in Nagasaki, and handed him over, and by his intermediary to all citizens of the city of Nagasaki, a small wooden statue of the „Angel for Better World“, carved by hand by a 13 years old Šimon Kožíšek under the supervision of artist Helena Vaculíková. The statue is a Peace Prize from pupils of the „Small School of Basic Arts“ in the village of Malá Morávka in the Czech Republc.
