Official visit to Japan of the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Mr. Miloš Vystrčil

From February 10th to February 13th, 2025, the President of the Senate, Miloš Vystrčil, paid an official visit to Japan at the invitation of the President of the House of Councillors of the National Diet of Japan, Masakazu Sekiguchi. The delegation also included the chairpersons of four senatorial caucuses: Z. Nytra (Chairperson of the Civic Democratic Party and TOP09 Caucus), J. Sobotka (Chairperson of the Mayors and Independents Caucus), J. Klement (Chairperson of the Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party and Independents Caucus ) and V. Láska (Chairperson of the Liberal Democracy - Senator 21 and Czech Pirate Party Caucus).
The delegation's official visit was also attended by Ms. Eva Zažímalová, President of the Czech Academy of Sciences and Ms. Ilona Müllerová, Vice President of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The business delegation was led by the Vice President of the Czech Chamber of Commerce, R. Jakubský. The delegation visited the prepared Czech national pavilion at the World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, and held talks with the Governor of Osaka Prefecture, H. Yoshimura, and the Mayor of Kyoto, K. Matsui. In Tokyo, meetings were held with the Presidents of both houses of the National Diet of Japan, M. Sekiguchi and F. Naguka, then with J. Hayashi, Chief Cabinet Secretary, and with the Parliamentary Group of Friends of the Czech Republic in Japan. The Silver Medal of the President of the Senate was presented to the Rector of the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) K. Hayashi for her long-term support of the Czech language and culture in Japan at the premises of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo.
