
Action Plan for Cooperation between the Czech Republic and Japan for the period of 2021 – 2025

H.E. Mr. Jakub KULHÁNEK, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and H.E. Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan signed on May 7, 2021 the Action Plan for Cooperation between the Czech Republic and Japan for the period 2021-2025. The document reaffirms the existing Strategic Partnership between Japan and the Czech Republic and defines the key areas of our strategic cooperation.
On May 7, 2021, the Czech Minister of Foreign of Affairs Jakub Kulhánek met in Warsaw with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Toshimitsu Motegi. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Visegrad Group with Minister Motegi, organized by the Polish Presidency of the V4.
During the meeting, Minister Kulhánek emphasized the high level of mutual relations between the two countries. Both representatives appreciated the excellent cooperation in areas such as economics, culture, education and science and technology. Also the possibilities of V4 + Japan cooperation in supporting the political and economic transformation of the Western Balkan countries were discussed, as well as other possibilities for cooperation between the EU and Japan, including in the field of humanitarian and development cooperation. Other topics discussed included the Japanese Free and Open Indo-Pacific initiative, the role of the PRC in the world and current developments in the DPRK.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Kulhánek and Minister Motegi signed the Action Plan for Cooperation between the Czech Republic and Japan for the period 2021-2025. The document defines the key areas of strategic cooperation. In addition to economic cooperation, priority areas for cooperation do include cooperation in science, innovation and trade, cooperation in the field of security and multilateral diplomacy.
