(This article expired 01.03.2017 / 01:00.)

On March 1, 2016, Mrs. Bronislava Tomášová, Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Mr. Milán Cigánik, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic and Mr. Heinz Habertheuer, Head of the Coordination Office for Technical Cooperation of the Austrian Embassy signed a Declaration on the joint implementation of the project “Dajti National Park - an accessible and attractive touristic destination”. The project will be realized in the framework of trilateral so called Austerlitz/Slavkov Cooperation – a new platform of cooperation of three neighbouring countries established in the meeting of Prime Ministers of Austria, Czech Republic and Slovakia in Slavkov u Brna at the beginning of 2015, aiming at the deepening of the cooperation in the fields of mutual interest.

The project was submitted to three donors by the Albanian Office of the international NGO ‘Regional Environmental Center’. Its goal is that “Dajti National Park has become a unique natural and touristic destination of Tirana”, which is in line with the national policies on tourism development and nature parks management strategy. The project will be implemented in close cooperation with the National Agency for Protected Areas and Tirana Municipality Agency of Parks and Recreation.

Within the project, almost 100 km of trails will be marked in the entire territory of the Dajti National Park and its surroundings, as well as brochures, flyers and touristic maps will be printed, web and mobile phone application produced, and educational programmes for children and youngsters provided.

10 new trails in the Dajti National Park and its surroundings marked by the Dajti Alpino Turistik Association will enable – together with 3 trails marked already in 2014 in the framework of the bilateral development cooperation of the Czech Republic and Albania - access to the most attractive sites of the area for the local inhabitants and tourists. They can spend their leisure time in the nature with clean and fresh air while walking, mountain biking, or hiking.

A set of printed materials for the promotion of the natural and touristic values of the Dajti National Park will be issued, like touristic maps, posters, flyers and postcards with the most beautiful sceneries of the Park, as well as information about local culture, cuisine and other traditional aspects of the Park communities. The project will make efforts to digitalise the selected trails in an online platform operating in both: app for smartphone and web based.

The project includes also the educational component focused on building the awareness on the attractive sites in the Dajti National Park. Communication activities with teachers and school children will be performed through organizing class information days focused on awareness about the importance of the Park for citizens of Tirana, as wells as on awareness how to be environmentally friendly and protect nature. Site visits for students of secondary schools will be organized in the Dajti National Park to visit the newly marked trails and talk about the nature and other appealing information linked to the Park to promote direct experience.
