To commemorate the legacy of the writer Milan Kundera, who passed away last year, the Embassy organized a seminar on his personality and work through the eyes of his interpreters at the National Library in Tirana on 16 October 2024.
Professor Anna Karenina, who was the only one allowed by Milan Kundera to translate his novels written in French, was invited to the seminar. She was joined by Professor Saverina Pascho, a lecturer at the French Department of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at the University of Tirana, who has translated Kundera's works from French into Albanian. The event was introduced by Piro Misha, Director of the National Library, Pavel Vacek, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Albania, and Samuel Richard, Deputy Ambassador of France to Albania, representing Kundera's adoptive home.
With more than forty active participants, the event, which ended with a glass of wine, had a great response and significant media coverage. It confirmed the timeless impact of Kundera's literary legacy and the wide range of interested Albanian academics and public readers.
