Embassy in Tirana Supports IHRFFA 2024 - Albania International Human Rights Film Festival

This year the Czech Embassy again supported the 19th International Human Rights Film Festival at the Marubi Film Academy in Tirana.  Ambassador Pavel Vacek attended the opening of the festival on 16 September 2024, where a documentary film by Czech-Swedish director Greta Stoklassa was screened.

This year's festival focus – Act Green for Now and for the Future - is a broad appeal to take responsibility for the shape of planet Earth for future generations. The opening documentary "Blix not Bombs" by a graduate of FAMU in Prague thus powerfully presented the peace message of legendary Swedish diplomat Hans Blix in the face of the challenges following the 9/11 attack on the US World Trade Center.

Among the forty documentary films from all corners of the world, Czech director Haruna Honcoop's "Olympic Halftime" reflects on the sites of architecture and urban development in the context of the Olympic Games in Athens, Tokyo, Beijing and Paris.
