Czech Embassy in Tirana, within the Transition Promotion Program of the Czech Republic and in cooperation with Institute of Political Studies headed by Prof. Afrim Krasniqi, for the successive year is supporting the human rights project “Remembrance through memory and dialogue with the past”. The main goal of this project is to encourage open talks with the youth about the state of human rights during communism in Albania and dwell on its effects in the transition period.
In the past years, with the Czech support ISP established the virtual museum of memory (for more go to www.muzeuimemories.info) that specifically targets the youth, and has published studies and reports on the findings on the information for the young generation. ISP, with the Czech Transition assistance has also developed an online map of prisons, raising awareness among the students and pupils. This year´s project has been focused on Human Rights during communism and the transition period. Posters, questionnaires, videos, etc. have been developed by ISP in order to show facts on human rights during the communist period and talk with the students. To contribute to the increase of the level of the information amongst the new generation on human rights and the heritage of the past was the main goal of this year´s project.
In the framework of the project, Czech Ambassador H.E. Mr. Karel Urban shared his views with students in the universities and high schools of Tirana, Vlora, Dibra, Pogradec etc. The Ambassador brought the Czech experience in dealing with the past, challenges of post-communist society, and underlined that confrontation with own past has brought some healing to the Czech society.
