​Czech Embassy supports the fight against gender – based violence and discrimination against women

The Czech Embassy together with the Women´s Museum in Tirana (MiG) implement a local transformation project „Past and Present – the Challenge for Women´s Rights“.
 

Significant challenges in the day-to-day application of women´s rights and fight agains all forms of violence and discriminination against women continue to prevail in Albania, despite the positive evolution of the albanian society in the past 30 years and an existing legal framework. These include notably traditional patriarchal mentality as well as lack of information of women and girls, especially in rural areas. With means of dedicated discussion days (FemDays) linking various cultural forms and prezentation of students´ projects on the history and concepts of women´s movement in Albania in six universities in and outside the capital, the project contributed towards raising awareness of the women´s movements, specifically deepened the engagement of young people in gender issues and equality as well as provided a protentially long term interactive cooperation in this area.
