Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Marian Jurečka visited Israel

Marian Jurečka made a one-day visit to Israel on May 28 2025, where he represented the Czech Republic at the international IHRA conference against antisemitism in Jerusalem. During his visit, he honored the memory of the Holocaust victims at the Yad Vashem memorial, expressed the Czechia's readiness to continue the fight against antisemitism in all its forms, and emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of the Holocaust, including the stories of each individual victim.

In Jerusalem, he also held bilateral talks with three Israeli ministers: Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa’ar, Minister of Labor Yoav Ben Tzur, and Minister of Social Affairs Ya’akov Margi. The discussions focused on the current political and international situation, the development of the conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and the humanitarian situation in the region.

He shared experiences in the field of social work and care for the aging population with Israeli counterparts. He also discussed the possibilities for the exchange of experts and strengthening international cooperation. He informed the Israeli side about the decision of the Czech Republic to unilaterally open its labor market to Israeli citizens starting in 2024 and requested cooperation in ensuring at least partial access for Czech workers, especially graduates and experts in promising fields, to the Israeli labor market.

"During meetings with the Minister of Labor Joav Ben-Cure and the Minister of Social Affairs Yaakov Margi, we shared experiences and examples of best practices in the social field. For instance, we built on previous communications and visits from Czech experts focused on social work and services, which are increasingly important due to the aging population," said Minister Jurečka.

At the end of the visit, he also met with the future ambassador of Israel in Prague. He appreciated the friendly relations between the Czech Republic and Israel, which he believes form the basis for further mutually beneficial cooperation.
