APPLICATIONS HAVE TO BE LODGED IN PERSON AT THE CONSULATE GENERAL IN SYDNEY.

You are obliged to submit:

1.  Application form

• The form "Application for long term residence permit"" must be filled out completely with a ball point pen or on a typewriter. Do not use red ink to complete the application.

Please do not forget

• to sign the application in the place indicated at the bottom (29). Do not forget to include your phone number and e-mail address for future communication

2. Photograps

• Two photos in color are to be attached: the photo must have a passport format, full face captured, and a light background. The photo must be reccently taken in profesional quality.

3. Travel document

•  Its validity must exceed your intended stay by at least 3 months  and the passport must have been issued within the last 10 years.
• We recommend to submit a copy of the data page of the passport (the page with your personal data and photo) as well.

4.  Hosting agreement

• original document ( document must be signed by the inviting research organisation and  by the applicant as well)

5. Written commitment

• original document, issued by the research organisation that it will cover the costs relating to your residence in the Czech Republic after the residence permit expires, including the costs of your departure from the Czech Republic if such costs have been incurred within six months from the date the hosting agreement ends and have been paid from public funds

6. Criminal record clearance - Police clearance certificate

• Evidence that the applicant has no record in the Criminal record of the country that issued his passport and any other country/countries where he has resided during the last 3 years for more than 6 months

• In Australia it is issued by Criminal Records section of  the Australian Federal Police and it is called  National Police check          National Police Cerificate (PDF, 639 KB)
• In New Zealand it is issued by Ministry of Justice and it is called "Copy of Criminal record".
• In other countries you have to contact the appropriate Embassy or Consulate for further information

This document has to be attested by Apostille, that can be arranged:

• In Australia by Department of Foreign Affairs an Trade
• In New Zealand by the Department of Internal Affairs
• In other countries you have to contact the appropriate Embassy or Consulate for further information

This document has to be in or officialy translated into the Czech language (including Apostille). Consulate does not provide translations.

Processing time

A long term residence permit must be approved by the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic.

The long term residence permit  for the purpose of  the scientific research  shall be processed within 60 days from the date the Consulate General in Sydney receives the complete application.

Please understand that the Consulate  is not able to speed up the visa approval process as it is decided by the Ministry of Interior of in the Czech Republic. Therefore, the Consulate General in Sydney encourages applicants to submit their applications on time.

Additional information:

Payment of the fees:

 When submitting  the application in person at the Consulate the fees are paid by card.

 If the application is submitted by post, the information regarding the payment of the fees will by send to you by email.

 

Returning the pasport and documents:

Please include details how your passport should be returned!

• AUSTRALIA - If by mail, a self addressed prepaid Express Post Platinum  satchel has to be enclosed.
• NEW ZEALAND and other coutries - you may arrange any courier company to pick up your passport once the visa is issued or you may enclose appropriate amount of money for desired postage. For New Zealand it is 26 AUD for the International or Express Post.
