Supermarket Art Fair – an international artist‑run gallery fair – kicked off on Thursday, April 3, and ran until April 6, 2025. At this year’s edition the Czech Republic was represented by Pragovka Gallery.
About the Fair
The Supermarket Art Fair is an annual international fair showcasing artist-run galleries and other independent art initiatives. The event aims to present unique projects organized by independent artists and create opportunities for collaboration between galleries and artists. Through exhibitions, discussions, and thematic gatherings, the fair highlights independent contemporary art, often overshadowed by the mainstream art scene. In its 2025 edition, Pragovka Gallery represented the Czech Republic, introducing its resident artists in Stockholm.
Pragovka Gallery
Pragovka Gallery has been based for eight years in a former factory hall within the Pragovka complex in Vysočany, Prague. The gallery offers an international exhibition program, runs international artist residency programs, organizes educational activities for families and schools, and hosts community events for the residents of Prague 9. Additionally, it actively supports the broader artistic community within Pragovka.
On April 10, 2025, Pragovka Gallery opened its second exhibition block of the year with four vernissages in the newly renovated E Factory building, where the gallery had been relocated. Despite the move, its curatorial approach remained unchanged – every year, the Pragovka Gallery curatorial collective (Vladimír Merta, Veronika Přikrylová, Kristýna Řeháčková, Pavel Ticho(ň), and Tea Záchová) selects a central theme that connects the exhibitions and accompanying programs.
The 2025 edition focused on 'resources' in the broadest sense of the word. The gallery selects exhibition projects primarily through an open call, complementing them with showcases of long-term Pragovka artist residents.
