The Czech Collection of Summer Olympic Games Posters Through the Ages

To mark the occasion of the Paris Olympic Games, the National Museum of the Czech Republic prepared a special exhibition of official Olympic posters, displayed on the fence of the Czech Embassy in Stockholm at Villagatan 21.

Stockholm started a new Olympic tradition: ever since the Stockholm Games in 1912, all subsequent Olympic Games have been promoted through posters, many of which have become iconic. Their designs were shaped by the host city, the artistic style of the period, contemporary graphic trends, and typography, always incorporating the symbolism of the Olympic movement.

The National Museum of the Czech Republic boasts a collection of more than 10,000 sports posters – one of the largest collections of its kind in the world. To celebrate Paris 2024, the Museum curated a selection titled Czech Collection of Summer Olympic Games Posters Through the Ages specifically for this exhibition.

The exhibition was on display from the start of the Olympic Games on 26 July until the end of the Paralympic Games on 8 September 2024.
