Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm, Czech Centre Stockholm, and the Swedish-Czech-Slovak Association in Stockholm invite you to the Velvet Run on November 16, 2024, in the heart of Stockholm! This symbolic run or walk celebrates freedom and commemorates the significant events of the 1989 Velvet Revolution in former Czechoslovakia.
About Velvet Run
Velvet Run is a social and sports event that unites participants of all ages and fitness levels in celebration of the Velvet Revolution's anniversary. It’s a perfect occasion to meet friends, family, and new people who value freedom.
Event History
Held annually in Stockholm since 2019, Velvet Run has quickly grown in popularity among the Czech and international communities, attracting more participants each year.
Visuals
The visual design for this year’s event was created by illustrator Jindřich Janíček, known for the graphic travelogue *Northwest Line* and *B is for Runner*, a "graphic documentary" about running races in the U.S. More examples of his work are to be seen at this year's Velvet Run!
Routes
This year’s Velvet Run routes will guide you through the charming streets and beautiful parks of Stockholm’s Östermalm district, with three course levels. The walking route is also suitable for parents with strollers. Changing and storage areas will be available, making the event suitable for everyone from runners to families with children.
